Design/ Build 922
Students will learn fundamental woodworking skills and shop safety through a class designed product. Using these skills, they will collaborate with a school club to design and build a custom product that addresses the club’s needs. Additionally, each student will have the opportunity to create a personal project, either for themselves or as a gift for someone else, allowing for creativity and practical application of their skills.

What To Expect
Foundations of Woodworking
With woodworking as the core focus of Design/ Build, students learn the fundamentals of wood, woodworking tools, and how to turn a board into a beautiful product.
Application of the Design Thinking Process
This isn't your average woodworking shop class. Students engage deeply in creating products for clients; aiming to understand their needs, brainstorm crafty solutions, prototype, and iterate to create the greatest value for others.
Project Management & Ownership
Student agency and ownership is a core mindset of this class. Students learn how to self-navigate through projects, take ownership of their process, and take control of their projects- from beginning to end.
Designing & Building For Our Community
Design/ Build works closely with the community; seeking opportunities to create woodworking projects that serve non-profits, elementary school classrooms, and clients within the community to make it a better place.
