Project Problem

Millions of wheelchair users in the U.S. are passionate about soccer but face barriers to participating fully in the sport. Current adaptive equipment doesn’t offer a natural kicking motion, leaving many athletes unable to engage in the game alongside their peers and missing out on the joy of playing.

Project Solution Description

Kick Assist is an affordable, user-friendly attachment that securely clamps onto a wheelchair and allows the user to kick a ball by pulling a handle. The mechanical design mimics a real kicking motion, giving athletes control, inclusion, and a more authentic soccer experience. Developed with feedback from adaptive athletes and organizations like Able Athletics, Kick Assist makes the game accessible for everyone.
